Hello All-
My name is Ryan Whetstone and I am a Norwalk resident and parent of two NLMUSD high school students. I am also an administrator in the Torrance Unified School District. I have reached out to the City of Norwalk, and the Norwalk Education Alliance to support the facilitation of a series of FREE scholarship workshops targeting local high school seniors interested in pursuing them. The expectation is that students are already exposed to college applications and general financial aid, but the next level of going for scholarships may be a gap for many.
The goal is to provide sessions where I will work to help students identify and apply for scholarships based on their unique criteria. As this is the first time we are doing this, there may be some challenges but the hope is there will be solid completions at the end.
The first meeting will be held this Saturday, November 11, 2023, 10 am-11 am, at the Norwalk Sports and Arts Complex – 13000 Clarkdale Ave., Norwalk 90650. Basic student information is requested for session sign-ups – see link on home page. They are requested to bring a device to do searches and applications. The remaining sessions will be bi-weekly on Saturdays (except when the Complex is closed).
